I Was a Trans…lator, and Here Is How I Connected the Dots

In my heart and memory those days were when I first entered the field of translation after graduating from university; They were beautiful days surrounded by some tiredness that motivates seriousness and diligence, not laziness. As I was making my way to the world of translation, my view of the profession and its owners was superficial, and it did not occur to my mind at that time that I was setting my feet in a deep sea that was not known for its resolution of science, knowledge, and literature, and say what you want of lofty values. I did not expect that this sea would represent a world full of challenges and I would decide, with hard work and diligence, or apathy and sluggishness, whether I would become a stature in its flanks, or accept for myself submissiveness to its difficulties.

My job was as simple as translating a few documents supported by ready-made templates most of the time. I was translating and I was very satisfied with my translation, but whenever I came across a text of some complexity such as a British legal agreement and I am helpless in front of some paragraphs that I cannot formulate in a way that reflects the quality of the original text, I find myself in my imagination for a while thinking and asking myself: How do I work as a translator? Can I adapt a text to produce a quality comparable to its foreign equivalent?

I address myself repeatedly the question every day, searching for an answer with her, and my level of satisfaction with the translation I produced began to decline until I decided to search for a work environment from which to learn and develop my talent in translation. My professional dimensions and putting points on the letters in my profession to turn from a “mercy” to a “translator.

I was touching the development of my abilities and talents and noticed the excellence in my performance increasing day by day and I was surrounded by a constellation of competent translators, I spend with them sometimes hours to come up with the best translation of a text that sparked the controversy between us. To my translations of my previous era, a look of pity at what the condition of that poor translator was and a look of pride and pride at what his condition had become.

In some work environments, everything that is transferred to Arabic is of different style and quality, even if it is a machine translation called “translation” that people use to spend their affairs. But in professional work environments, the difference is fundamental in dealing with translation and its acceptance or rejection. And to know, dear translator, that you are the judge and judge in deciding the dispute over the quality of your translation or the translation of others, but not when you are weak, lean, exhausted professionally, but when you are strong and armed with a great wealth of translation, linguistic and knowledge. What you offer, which can improve until it reaches a stage where nothing but humility prevents you from evaluating great translators who are referred to in the Arab world.

The translator and others bearers of knowledge and knowledge in the world, each of them has a beginning, either he finds his path and continues his development to become great and his star shines in the sky of his profession, or he moves between his legs, standing in his place and remains in the vicinity of his beginning, remaining submerged and dim as he was when he began.
